My Read Self is my quarterly e-newsletter. It celebrates books, reading, and me :) Every issue will have mini-reviews and my paintings of the covers of books I’ve enjoyed that season, with an attempt to focus on Canadian small-press books, sometimes I’ll do a Q&A with an author, and then there will be news about my writing, and (when applicable) book launches, readings, etc. for my books.

This is a Danish book, and it may be a bit of an homage to Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse. The Summer Book, by Tove Jansson
I’m a big fan of Tove Jansson’s Moomin books. They’re whimsical, creative, and full of subtle deep thoughts and life lessons. The Summer Book is not part of the Moomin series, but it has everything I love about a Tove Jansson book. Here, we follow young Sophia and her cool grandmother through several short stories worth of time on a little island in the Gulf of Finland where they live in a cabin during the summer. …
